O.K. so we now had a great source in Cygnus, what we needed next was an amplifier that would satisfy even the most ardent audiophile.
Oh, and it also had to be innovative and beautiful. Tucana was the result. On it’s own, Tucana is a stunning stereo amplifier which will happily drive today’s audiophile speakers in a stereo system. It is a dual mono design using three heavy-duty toroidal power transformers and has a refined bi-polar output stage. Using six output devices, each channel is capable of swinging over forty five amps of current, ensuring a vice like grip and precise control of the loudspeakers. A flexible set of inputs; a record output, full remote control and a sophisticated volume display complete the picture.
Well, actually not. Tucana is also the system controller for a unique and expandable home cinema system. It is able to talk to the outside world using the ‘Leema Intelligent Protocol System’ or LIPS. This enables Tucana to automatically and intelligently configure other group members and devices in to a multi-unit home cinema system. Once correctly set up, the Leema system looks at which input has been selected and activates any other required units, selects the correct input and sets the volume. For instance, if CD is selected, the Tucana alone would power up for stereo only replay. If a Corvus is connected via the LIPS connector, the bass management section would power up and extract bass to a mono or stereo sub-woofer system. If a multi-channel input were selected however, then both the Hydra and full Corvus units would be powered up and configured to play a multi-channel source, with full bass management again in mono or stereo as required. This means that once installed, the Leema Constellation system is incredibly easy to use and uniquely family friendly.
